God loved man so much He gave Jesus Christ His only Son so that man can live through Him (1 John 4:9). God is love, and when we receive His Son, Jesus Christ, love comes into us.
With Jesus Christ, there is no discrimination; all men are the same, yet every man will be judged by God. What matters to God is whether man has received His Son Jesus or not.
In my experience, I have always tried to please man. I always felt like I had to do something. Finally, I became so upset that I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb myself. Now I realize in my 59th year that drugs and alcohol were a waste of my time. While I may still do many things to please man, I cannot do anything that pleases God except to receive His love in the person of Jesus Christ.
I have been clean and sober for several years. I still feel every now and then that people look down at me because I’m not living up to their social expectations-like having a good job or fancy clothes. Regardless, the Spirit always turns my heart back to Him, puts people in my life, and turns my heart to His reality, which is Jesus Christ and His church.
Hopefully, in the years to come I will have more experiences. I may not be a rich man and I may not be a poor man, but I am a happy man! I am rich inwardly thanks to the fact that Jesus Christ is now in my life. You can be rich inwardly! Just ask Jesus to come into your heart.
