Testimonies from the Young People
It’s such a blessing to have the YP meetings every week. As a high schooler, it’s difficult to find a good balance between school and the church life. Homework, studying, and extracurricular activities take up most of my time, but the meetings on Saturday nights are like an anchor for me; they prevent me from drifting away from the Lord and the saints. — Z. Since I have been meeting with the young people in Chicago, I have grown so much as a Christian. Being with the young people has really shown me how beneficial it is to be with people you are able to enjoy the Lord with both in and out of meetings. Being in high school, there are a lot of challenging obstacles that I have to overcome. With companions, I now find that things like reading the Bible or praying with others has helped me in tough situations because I’m contacting and enjoying the Lord in a richer way than I was before. — H. In this current day and age, it is even more important that the Lord has a group of young people to help turn the age like Daniel and his friends. Both the young people’s meetings (YP meetings) and the Summer School of Truth (SST) have definitely played important roles in shaping our experiences as young people pursuing the Lord. Although it is important to start building a relationship with the Lord at a young age, it is even more vital to stay in this relationship. In this, the YP meetings and the SST are of great importance. Coming to the meetings and seeing other young people is extremely encouraging because it makes them feel as though we are not alone in their pursuit of the Lord. — F. C.
